May 08–Shaquille O’Neal is many things — former NBA star, basketball analyst and he rides with the General as a pitchman for car insurance.

Will he also ride as the sheriff?

O’Neal, 45, told an Atlanta TV station he plans to run for sheriff.

He told WXIA-TV in Atlanta recently:

“This is not about politics, this is about bringing people closer together. You know, when I was coming up, people loved and respected the police, the deputies. And I want to be the one to bring that back, especially in the community I serve.”

O’Neal long has been interested in law enforcement, dating back to his high school days in San Antonio and in college at LSU.

But where? Back in December, he was sworn in as an honorary deputy in Clayton County, Georgia, a suburban area south of Atlanta.
