A Polk County, Florida sheriff’s deputy spotted a man trespassing in her backyard early Monday morning.
Turns out he was a registered sex offender who was wandering around because he ‘has trouble sleeping and needed a place to urinate.’
The deputy, who lives at the Lake Wales home, told police that she was in her marked patrol car, parked in her driveway, when she was the man walking from her backyard.
WFLA reports that the deputy got out of her patrol car and “held [Christopher] Couch at gunpoint until Lake Wales Police Department officers arrived.”
When asked why he didn’t go to a nearby orange grove to urinate –close to where he’d parked his car — Couch said he didn’t know.
Officers never got a good explanation for why he ended up in the deputy’s backyard- which is located far from his own residence.
He did tell them, however, that he doesn’t sleep well and likes to ‘drive around town’.
Couch was arrested on a charge of prowling, according to the local NBC station.
