Some cunning police in Virginia used a life-sized doll to catch a sexual predator red-handed.
Arrested on October 6th after falling for the bait, Brandon Murdock’s serial molestation spree at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Manassas finally came to an end, Prince William County police said in a statement.
The 31-year-old was charged with burglary and attempted aggravated sexual assault. He was also tied to at least two previous sexual assault cases at the same location dating back to October of last year- including incidents involving an elderly woman and underaged girls.
Murdock would gain entry into the hotel rooms of his victims and touch them inappropriately as they slept. He would then (successfully) flee every time- until he was finally foiled by a dummy.
“We didn’t know if it was going to take days, weeks or months, but we were kind of, at that point, where we needed to try pretty much anything we could to get this offender off the street because we were worried that the offenses would escalate,” Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok said. “We did this operation out of luck hopefully to try and catch this person, and thankfully we did.”
According to the New York Daily News, police have asked anyone who had an encounter with Murdock to come forward.
