A 2-½ year old Belgian Malinois K-9 in Louisiana solved a string of major vehicle burglaries…On his second day on the job.
Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 Arco and handler Deputy Chris Isom had only recently returned home from K-9/handler training in south Louisiana when they were called to a neighborhood in north Bossier Parish for a vehicle burglary.
According to KTBS, Sheriff Julian Whittington said Arco and Isom were there only a short time before Arco found a scent and took the pursuit a further 400 yards to a nearby trailer park.
Arco’s quick action helped detectives arrest two teenage males, aged 13 and 16 years.
The teens were arrested for illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana. They will also face seven charges each of vehicle burglary. Other charges are pending.
In addition, two adult males were arrested by summons for possession of marijuana. One 76-year-old woman was arrested for letting a disorderly place (knowingly allowing stolen goods to be stored there). All were booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility.
“This was a team effort from patrol to Deputy Isom and our new K-9, Arco and detectives,” said Whittington. “We here at the Bossier Sheriff’s Office are dedicated to keeping crime low and our entire Criminal Division works tirelessly to solve cases and keep the bad guys off the streets.”
