A search is underway for the person responsible for opening fire on a Dallas Police vehicle early Thursday morning.

The DPD officer was cruising down the Interstate at around 2AM when a passenger window was shattered by a bullet, causing minor glass-related injuries to the officer. In addition to the windshield taking a hit, the passenger door also absorbed fire.

According to NBC DFW,  DPD Sergeant Michael Mata tweeted photos showing bullet holes in the windshield and passenger window of the car. He wrote, “real lives are affected by this false narrative of a war on the police! Some coward shot at our officers!”

The incident is under investigation and while no individual has been identified in connection with the crime, several shell casings were located nearby.
