In the movie version of this scene, officers just turned the other way. But despite a barrage of bees, officers on a manhunt in a densely-wooded section of Martin County, Fla., were laser-focused on nabbing their suspects.
You may remember the scene in “Tommy Boy” when comedy legends, David Spade and Chris Farley, try to sell the cops out of a ticket by pretending to be attacked by a large swarm of bees.
The cowardly cop actors, claim they’re allergic to bees and drive away while yelling to the suspects, “We’ll be back to check on you later.”
During a five-hour manhunt Monday in Martin County, one deputy was stung more than 20 times by bees. Police say she was treated and later released from a nearby hospital. Other deputies and a sheriff’s K-9 were also stung, but did not require medical attention, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Police say it all started when two men stole a van in Palm beach County, then lost control and crashed along I-95 in Hobe Sound. The van hit a truck and rolled over into the median. Martin County Sheriff’s deputies and Florida Highway Patrol began searching for the suspects who reportedly fled on foot into a wooded area.
Ground and air units assisted in the search. One suspect was caught and taken into custody. The second is still at large.
