The Massachusetts State Police department issued a warning to all Massachusetts residents on Wednesday night, stating scammers pretending to be state troopers are calling residents in an attempt to raise funds for the department.
“The Massachusetts State Police will never call and solicit any person or business for donations of any kind,” the department said in a statement.
Anyone who receives a fraudulent call from a person claiming to be a state police officer asking to help raise money for the department is urged to contact their local Massachusetts State Police barrack and report the call.
