Adrenaline-pumping dash cam footage has surfaced from Tennessee, showing the pursuit, ramming and arrest of a rape suspect.
According to News Channel 5, Tennessee State Troopers and officers from other agencies arrested 20 year old Cordarius Caldwell after a short chase in February of this year.
Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s SRT informed THP and FBI agents to be on the alert for Caldwell after he had fled from Nashville’s jurisdiction.
MNPD said they began pursuit of Caldwell after they had received a suspicious persons call in Madison around 2 AM. When police arrived, they found a woman crawling out of a window, screaming that she had been raped at gunpoint.
Caldwell attempted to flee the house on foot, eventually stealing a car from a woman who went into a gas station to buy cigarettes.
Now equipped with a vehicle, Caldwell led police on a chase that exceeded speeds of 100 MPH. Eventually, MNPD had to call off the chase
The chase caused a massive traffic jam along I-24 East in Chattanooga.
Dash cam footage shows troopers attempting to stop Caldwell as he rams his way through interstate traffic at high speed. One patrol car crashes into an underpass but resumes the chase.
Finally, Caldwell is brought to a stop through careful ramming by Troopers. Attempts are made to open the vehicle and Caldwell was dragged from the vehicle and detained.
Officials also took 21 year old Zachery L. Hunter into custody, after confirming he was also inside the home where the rape took place. He has been charged with aggravated rape and false imprisonment for having knowledge the sexual assault was taking place but doing nothing to stop it.
