Newly released bodycam video shows an officer pushing an 18-year-old man off a roof after he was ordered to by his supervising officer on the ground.
According to WFTV, the man ran away from police after officers attempted to question him about possibly stealing his girlfriend’s car.
He then ran upstairs and out an open window and perched himself on the edge of the roof.
Kissimmee officers, both on the roof and ground, told the man to come down from the roughly nine-foot ledge.
After refusing, Sgt. Anthony Amada ordered officer Plenio Massiah to, “Push him off the roof. Push him off. Just push him off. Push him off.”
Officer Massiah followed the commands of his supervising officer, and according to the report fearing a struggle, did push the man off the roof.
Sgt. Amada then immediately stunned the man with a taser once he hit the ground.
The incident forced Kissimmee Police to launch an internal investigation of the matter.
Massiah was suspended for a day over the incident.
Sgt. Amada resigned from the department in June, though the Internal Affairs report says he would have been fired for this case.
