A young woman working for a local restaurant in Canada was taken down for wearing a stormtrooper outfit and sporting a ‘blaster’ on Star Wars Day (May 4th).
The incident unfolded in Lethbridge, Alberta as the woman strolled up and down the street outside the restaurant in full costume. However, the police were called, and they mistook her Disney ‘blaster’ for a real gun.
The actions of the officers are now being investigated internally after video of the incident went viral.
The scene unfolded on May 4th, affectionately known as ‘Star Wars Day’ as it resembles the famous phrase, ‘may the force (4th) be with you.’
Police were reportedly responding to two calls about someone dressed as a stormtrooper and armed with a firearm, which turned out to be a fake weapon – used throughout the Star Wars movies.
Multiple officers responded to the scene, weapons drawn, which created a somewhat comical video that naturally went viral on social media.
And as he watched the police action from the door of the restaurant, owner Brad Whalen called out, “It’s a plastic gun! Are you serious?”
