In a great act of selflessness, an unnamed Oregon man put the well-being of society before his own groceries by pushing his shopping cart into the path of a suspect being chased by police officers.

The suspect,Cody Jaye Lindsay, was attempting to evade police by entering a Fred Meyer grocery store in Portland, Oregon.

According to ABC (AUS), The foot pursuit began when Police tried to arrest Lindsay after seeing him jaywalk across a road, nearly causing several accidents.

However, Lindsay fled from the officers on foot, attempting to lose the officers by sprinting through the store, jumping over a child in the process.

The mystery hero pushed his cart right into Lindsay, causing him to fall onto the floor and allowing officers a chance to bring him down unharmed.

CCTV footage released by police shows the unidentified shopper nonchalantly picking up his groceries, securing his cart and carrying on with his shopping, completely unfazed.

Lindsay was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct in the second degree, interfering with an officer and a parole violation.

Since the arrest, the Portland Police have publicly thanked the “anonymous shopping cart guy” for stopping the suspect in his tracks with expert timing and cartsmanship.
