Two Iowans were rescued from the Des Moines River on Monday night, thanks to the hard work of police officers who took quick action.
DMPD officers were dispatched to a bridge after they were informed of an overturned raft, finding two “exhausted” victims in the water upon their arrival.
The quick-thinking officers pulled the man and woman to shore.
Des Moines Fire Lieutenant said that the Fire Department was dispatched to the scene, but the police had already pulled the two from the water before DMFD vessels could arrive.
According to the Des Moines Register, the drenched rafters were taken to a local hospital.
