Police rescue women & dog trapped in car as fast-moving flood waters surround them

As Texas recovers from heavy rains and floods, the Austin Police have released footage of a water rescue involving three people and a dog.

Three young women and a dog were trapped in a car sitting atop a flooded bridge and can be seen as several officers attempt to recover them.

One officer -identified as Officer Matthew Valli- donned a life jacket and tied himself to a line as Officer Benjamin Cochran prepared to guide him into the swelling waters.

As Valli pushed into the water, he attempted to extract the hysterical young women and get them to safety, all while being mindful of the rising waters.

During the extraction, a woman and dog dragged Valli under the water, and Cochran had to assist in pulling everyone back.

One minute after rescuing all parties involved, the vehicle was swept away.
