Four Texas Tech football players were arrested on Sunday on charges of disorderly conduct, prompting Lubbock Police to release video and police report excerpts from the incident.

Texas Tech players Jett Duffey, Desmon Smith-Williams, Quan Shorts, Christian Taylor were booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center, one of ten suspects arrested in connection with an incident at the Bash Riprocks Nightclub.

When police were dispatched to the scene a few minutes before 2 AM, they arrived with reports that a suspect at the scene was potentially armed and dangerous.

“After attempting to locate [the] armed suspect, an officer observed an individual intentionally cause damage to a vehicle by smashing the windshield,” a statement from Lubbock PD read. “When officers tried to arrest the suspect, the crowd became aggressive toward the responding officers. “

In the ensuing melee, football player Desmon Smith-Williams was bitten by a K-9. He was taken to the hospital, treated and released for booking.

During the fracas, “Taylor smashed a car windshield in front of one of the responding officers and Jett Duffey damaged property at ULOFTS in front of officers while we were trying to disperse the crowd,” according to the police report.

According to Everything Lubbock, video footage of the incident was made available on an affiliate station’s Facebook page. In the video, police are shown being shoved by members of the angry mob.
