It was a good thing Rocky, the K-9 was on duty Tuesday in Ocala, Fla., where he helped officers sniff out 75-pounds of pot during a traffic stop.
Ocala PD says the driver, 47-year-old Lee Alan Minchew, committed multiple traffic violations while behind the wheel of his Ford F-350 pickup truck.
The bed of the truck contained “large pieces of used furniture and a number of cardboard boxes,”ocala.com reported.
As some of the agents from the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team were talking to Minchew, Rocky, a drug-detecting dog, gave signals indicating that drugs might be inside the vehicle.
Agents discovered 72 vacuum sealed bags — each of which contained about a pound of high-grade marijuana — inside four large cardboard boxes in the bed of the truck.
Officials estimated the street value at roughly $225,000. Minchew was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana.
