Kutztown, PA — Ever wanted to have a drink on the dime of a police officer? Well, Kutztown police had an offer that was hard to pass up.
On Wednesday, the department posted a message on social media asking for three volunteers to drink to the point of inebriation on April 4 as subjects in a field sobriety training exercise simulating DUI traffic stops.
The message said that volunteers would be provided free hard liquor during the training but would not be compensated.
Police required that volunteers be in good health, between the ages of 25 and 40, with no history of drug or alcohol abuse.
They also had to have a clean criminal record, sign a liability waiver and have a sober person take care of them and take them home after the training exercise.
By Thursday afternoon, the department had updated the post, stating that police had “an overwhelming response” and had enough volunteers to choose from.
The post had been shared more than 1,200 times on social media.
