Monopoly-style “Get Out of Jail Free” card are being distributed by one Michigan police department for public use- provided they can get them in time.
The Bath Township Police Department posted an offer for local residents to come pick up the board game-inspired cards on a first-come-first-serve basis, allowing citizens to be let loose for a crime.
Releasing the offer to social media last Thursday, the agency hopes people will be willing to come get the cards.
“These cards are only available February 30th at our police department front desk,” the agency wrote. “They can be used for a one time only get out of jail free. Just give it to your arresting Officer and they have no choice but to let you go. No questions asked. Come get them while they’re hot!*”
If you didn’t quite catch that, give it another read.
For those still unfamiliar with calendars, there is no such thing as February 30th.
Even if the day doesn’t exist, the offer still came with an asterisk, however.
“Cards will not work for the East Lansing Police Department because they are mad that we have a Monopoly on the good Facebook posts,” BTPD wrote.
