A Louisiana man from Sabine Parish was fatally shot after he unlawfully got into the car of the Converse Police Chief.
24-year-old Ricco Devante Holden was shot in the late hours of Sunday night after engaging a Converse officer, who had been investigating a disturbance.
During the struggle, Holden entered the police vehicle and was shot by CPD Chief Ken Manshack. While three gunshots were heard, a state investigation will determine whether or not all three shots were from law enforcement.
“The investigation remains active and ongoing,” said Louisiana State Police Master Trooper Daniel “Scott” Moreau.
According to KSLA, several bystanders reported hearing the shots.
“Oh I heard a gunshot,” said Justin Austin, who said the gunfire instantly woke him up. “Got my son, took him to my wife and I grabbed my gun.”
The investigation is ongoing.
