Police in the Arizona city of Flagstaff have released body-cam footage of a police-related shooting mere days after the incident took place
Flagstaff Police recorded the incident on Friday night after 78-year-old John Hamilton refused to put his weapon down after a nearly four-and-a-half minute standoff with FPD officers.
The officers were called to the Coconino Avenue area home after a woman reported being confronted by a man with a weapon.
Repeatedly instructed to disarm and show his hands, Hamilton refused, despite being told that he would run the risk of being shot if he continued to disobey.
“I’m gonna have to fire,” one officer said. “If you break that [weapon] up one more time, I will shoot you.”
According to AZ Family, no one else was hurt in the shooting, though Hamilton died at the scene.
The incident is being investigated by the Northern Arizona Officer Involved Shoot Team.
