Police officers get weird animal calls. Whether it’s llamas in Arizona, or a gator in Florida, there’s little expectation of normalcy on an animal call. And then there’s this. A woman in Michigan called police to report a pig that was chasing her around her house. Deputy Chief Mark Coil told WWJ that “officers responded and were able to detain the pig and get him in the back seat of the patrol car. Realistically, the pig didn’t give us much trouble. We used a dog pole that we would use for a dog at large and were able to corral the pig and take the pig into custody without any problems whatsoever.” As he put it, “just when you think after 25 years in the business you’ve seen it all, you get a call from a shift commander telling you that we have corralled a pig.”
That would typically be the end of the story. However, this particular porker seemed to really enjoy the ride and gave a big smile for the camera from the backseat of a patrol car. The happy-pig photo quickly went viral, as did the the image Shelby Police posted to their Facebook page about the result of the swine ride. The pig pooped all over the back seat of the cruiser.
Fortunately, according to the Shelby Township PD, “the piggy’s owner showed up at the station to “bring home the bacon”, and cleaned the car out while he was there.” There was even an offer from a local Car Wash to clean the car for free.
Sorry. Out of control bowels DO NOT indicate a happy pig; nor does that poor beast look “happy.” Kudos to the officers who humanely corralled the animal though. I hope the piggy went to a good sanctuary!
but no not really.
