Police in western Michigan are off the hook for detaining an 11-year-old girl, her mother and aunt at gunpoint while searching for a stabbing suspect which happened to be the girl’s other aunt.
Grand Rapids Police officers involved in the December 6th incident -which was caught on Axon body cams- performing a temporary detainment, repeatedly telling 11-year-old Honestie Hodges that she wasn’t under arrest.
At the time of the incident, GRPD was looking for another one of Hodges’ aunts, who was suspected of being the stabber but was not at the domicile.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Police Chief David Rahinsky says that while the footage left him “nauseated,” his officers followed procedure to the letter.
Several pastors in the area -for some reason or another- were upset that the officers were cleared, claiming such matters should be investigated externally.
