Athens, GA – Body camera footage has been released showing police save a man trying to jump from a railroad bridge.

Athens-Clarke County Officer Cody Nix captured the moment when he encountered the man attempting to leap over 150 feet to his death.

“Just lean back. Stay where you are. We are going to help you,” Nix shouted as his comrade, Officer Brendan Branning, took to the loudspeaker and tried to talk the man out of suicide.

According to WSBTV, Branning was familiar with the man and knew he recently lost a loved one.

As Nix moved forward, in conjunction with Branning’s diversion, Sergeant Von Anderson made it to the top of the bridge.

“I’m not interested in gymnastics, dude,” Anderson said. “Listen to me. The only reasons we’re here is because we are worried about you. I ain’t interested in hurting you or putting you in jail. You ain’t done nothing.”

Finally, the two officers pulled the man to safety. He was sent to the hospital for medical evaluation.
