A high-intensity pursuit that ended with shots fired in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was documented on the patrolman’s body camera- and is now available for the public to see.

The incident took place earlier this month, after a suspect -identified as Derrec Shaw- shot two people at a South Tulsa strip mall and attempted to flee the scene.

Arriving in his cruiser and deploying his patrol carbine, a TPD officer entered the scene through the back of a Cici’s Pizza, hoping to get a tactical advantage over Shaw.

Shaw, who was acting erratically before shooting two individuals at the strip mall, began fleeing towards Interstate 44, shooting at vehicles as he tried to make his escape.

Sprinting after Shaw, the officer was nearly struck by passing vehicles, with one driver having the audacity to honk at a patrolman armed with a rifle.

As shots rang out, the officer fired a controlled pair, striking Shaw and dropping him to the shoulder of the road as vehicles rushed by.

“Suspect is down,” the officer radioed in as traffic swirled around him.

Eventually, TPD managed to halt traffic, and officers swarmed the scene.

According to Tulsa World, Shaw was pronounced dead on scene.

A TPD public information officer said the officer followed proper training in stopping Shaw, and that no protocols currently exist for what officers should do on highways.

The officer remains on administrative leave.
