A police officer in Delaware has been taken off life support following head injuries while performing his duties, and now his organs will be donated to continue saving lives.

Delmar Police Corporal Keith Heacook, 54, was responding to a call on Sunday when he sustained the injury.

The culprit, 30-year-old Randon D. Wilkerson of Salisbury, attacked Heacook and two elderly individuals who lived across the street.

Wilkerson, according to a resident of the subdivision who called 911, was fighting with other residents and destroying items inside a home.

According to Fox News, Wilkerson was facing charges of attempted murder, assault, burglary, possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony, and terroristic threatening.

Due to his actions leading to the death of Heacook, those charges now will be upgraded.

Serving even in death, Heacook’s organs will be preserved to help those looking for a second chance at life.
