A police officer in Denver was shot by a suspect while inside of the Colorado metro’s jail last month- and video footage from the incident has just been released to the public.
On November 28, Denver Police took 33-year-old Daniel Cheeseman into custody following a suspected car stop, where he was found with a handgun and suspected narcotics in a backpack.
Upon being taken to the city jail, Cheeseman produced a second gun -while in handcuffs- from an unknown location and fired at police, who were removing him from the police SUV in the jail parking garage.
Surrounding officers can be seen on body cameras, reacting as they hear the shots.
One officer fired into the SUV, and another was so energized by the adrenaline that he did not realize he was hit in the neck.
“Where am I hit?” the officer can be heard asking.
The suspect and injured officer were both taken to a nearby hospital, with the latter being released the following day on modified duty,
According to 9 News, Cheeseman, who was in critical condition, has yet to be charged.
