A New Jersey cop shot an armed robbery suspect in a Newark barber shop Tuesday night, a daring event that was caught on security camera.

The police officer -who was not on duty at the time- was a customer at the barber shop when the suspect walked inside and produced a gun.

According to ABC7, the suspect attempted to pull the trigger twice, but his firearm malfunctioned. Seeing their opportunity, both the lawman and the barber charged the suspect, tackling him to the ground.

Once the ground fight began, the officer attempted to draw his sidearm but had to try with more force to free his gun from his holster, as the retention of the apparatus appeared rather loose.

The officer fired two shots, hitting the fleeing suspect. Thinking quickly,  the lawman ran to the adjacent police station, rounded up a posse and took chase.

Police later pulled over a vehicle occupied by the suspect and an accomplice. Bailing from the vehicle, the two were later apprehended by police.

No one but the suspect was injured in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
