A New York City police officer is in the hospital after being shot in the chin and neck Saturday night.
According to NY1 and the New York Post, the shooter was having a conversation with the two officers around 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening. As the talking was coming to an end, the man pulled out a gun and began shooting at the two officers, who were in their patrol van at the time.
The officers successfully drove away, though the one officer was injured.
In surveillance video, the suspect actually began to move away before running back to the van to fire more bullets at the van.
The one officer who was not injured was able to drive his partner to the hospital, where he is expected to survive.
The NYPD has now launched a manhunt to find the shooter for what they describe as an “Assassination” attempt.
Police have released a photo of the alleged shooter, who is still on the run as of Sunday morning.
