The NYPD officer accused of tackling tennis star James Blake “like Rambo” is suing both his employer and the athlete- and says he would repeat the action if needed.
Officer James Frascatore forced Blake to the ground in September of 2015 after his supervisors mistook the tennis player for an armed suspect.
Moving quickly and attempting to get the job done without anyone getting killed, Frascatore tackled Blake and cuffed him in short order. When he realized his mistake, he immediately uncuffed the athlete and apologized.
Blake accused the officer of racial profiling and co-authored a book that discusses the incident, titled Ways of Grace.
Not only has Frascatore read the book and was insulted by what was said about him, he also has been placed on modified duty.
According to the New York Post, Frascatore is suing for slander and emotional distress caused by both Blake and the department.
