They probably weren’t on their way to church, but maybe they thought the ‘good book’ would protect them. They thought wrong.

During a traffic stop in Brooklyn, cops found a handgun in a very unlikely place. They spotted what appeared to be a Bible containing the King James versions of the Old and New Testament, inside a car.

Officers say the Glock 17, a magazine and 10 bullets were found in the fake ‘good book,’ following a car stop early Monday morning.

Cops say when they approached the car, they smelled marijuana. When they searched the vehicle further, they discovered an undisclosed quantity of pot, a gravity knife and the “Bible safe.”

Police say the bogus leather-bound book was actually a locked, hollowed-out case for the gun.

The NY Daily News reported that three people inside the car were all taken into custody, and charged with two counts of weapons possession and unlawful possession of marijuana.

A Deputy Inspector with the city’s 70th Precinct, mentioned the arrest in a Tweet: “#70pct PO Rolffot & team arrested a perp for gun hidden in Bible!” he wrote. “The dangers our officers encounter. #NYPD.”
