A woman in her nineties was knocked to the ground in the middle of the day in Manhattan last week, and nobody seems to have done anything about it.
The incident took place on Third Avenue at about 3:30 PM on Friday, when elderly woman walking with the assistance of a pushcart was approached by a man moving in the opposite direction.
The man noticed the woman, and casually punched her in the side of the head as he passed, sending her tumbling onto the sidewalk- a potentially fatal situation for someone her age.
The man, who the New York Post described as a “brute,” continued on his way without even picking up pace.
Surprisingly, none of the bystanders in the short clip seemed keen to immediately chase after the attacker or assist the woman, though the video footage provided does not cover much beyond the attack.
It is unknown who the attacker was, what his motives were, or if hate crime/elderly abuse charge enhancement will come into play.
The incident was caught on a security camera and released in hopes of helping with the attacker’s apprehension.
The woman is expected to recover from her injuries.
The assault happened on 3rd Avenue between 15th Street & 16th Street in Manhattan. If you have any information on the attack they NYPD is asking you to contact them at @NYPDTips at or 800-577-TIPS.
