NYC protester arrested after smacking camera out of detective’s hand

An NYC woman was arrested for intentionally knocking a camera out of the hands of an NYPD detective during a Manhattan anti-police protest on Sunday, resulting in the destruction of the device.

Nelae White, a 25-year-old participating in the Hell’s Kitchen-area demonstration, was addressing the detective with the camera at the time of the incident, all while crowds chanted in the background.

“No cops, no KKK, no facist USA,” the crowd repeated, over and over.

According to the New York Post, footage obtained from the broken camera shows White striking the camera and walking away, almost as if she assumed there would be no consequences for her actions.

In the end, however, she was tackled to the ground by NYPD and taken into custody.

Fearing an escalation, police formed a line to keep White’s fellow protesters away from her.

The Brooklyn resident was charged with criminal mischief.
