A North Dakota volunteer deputy has been released from duty after the Cass County Sheriff said in an internal memo that he doesn’t trust him.

According to Inforum, the volunteer deputy, identified as Ben Longlet, supposedly leaked text messages and other internal memos to the media regarding a paid deputy sending “nudes” to his wife through a government-issued cellphone.

“I do not feel comfortable having him work under my authority and peace officer license, nor am I obligated to have him work under my license,” the letter said.

Longlet was put under the microscope when Sheriff Jesse Jahner learned that he was a part of the Code4 Media that claims to hold law enforcement agencies accountable for abuses of power.

Lt. Tommy Ray was disciplined for illegally using his department cellphone. The investigation into his “nudes” text message was closed in January. He was not fired and the Department added that it does not fire first-time offenders.
