New video taken from a helicopter shows officers home in on Austin bombing suspect Mark Conditt just before he detonated an explosive device in his car, killing himself.

The footage, obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, shows Austin police SWAT team members approach the vehicle off Interstate 35 in Round Rock moments before the suspect takes his own life and the officers are blasted away.

Two people died and three were injured in the string of bombings that terrorized Austin for 19 days in March.

The video was played at a Texas Department of Public Safety meeting to which the public was invited.

A SWAT team located Conditt early on March 21 and laid out of plan to confront him.

He killed himself just before officers reached him.

None of the officers were injured by the blast.

An investigation into the case is ongoing.
