Update: The Iowa teacher who was accused of sexual activity with underage boys has admitted to her wrongdoing.
Cassidy Kraus pleaded guilty to the charges of one count of third-degree sexual abuse, two counts of lascivious acts with a child, and three counts of dissemination and exhibition of obscene materials to minors on Jan. 29.
Kraus’s charges stem from incidents with three boys between the ages of 13 and 14 that took place in 2022 and 2023 in Carroll County, Iowa.
She is due back in court on March 11 and faces a maximum of 33 years in prison.
October 23, 2023 – A teacher in Iowa is out on bond after it was discovered she was using Snapchat to groom and engage in inappropriate sexual behavior with teen boys.
Cassidy Sue (Branning) Kraus was booked in the Carroll County Detention Center on a slew of charges, involving severe misconduct between 2022 and 2023.
The 24-year-old educator, who reportedly got married on July 1st, faces felony charges of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child, in addition to three misdemeanor charges for disseminating obscene materials no less than three other minors.
According to Law & Crime, Kraus opted to resign instead of being fired by the IKM-Manning Community School District (CSD) over the summer.
In addition to grooming and sending explicit images over Snapchat, Kraus also fondled a 13-year-old boy in his genital area and performed sex acts on a 14-year-old.
Ironically, Kraus’ former position made her a mandatory reporter of child abuse as a teacher employed by the school district.
Kraus faces up to 10 years and a fine of at least $1,000, but not more than $10,000 for each count she has been charged with.
