An elephant ran wild in New York on Sunday night, leading to a bizarre call for the New York State Police.
The giant creature was spotted in Westtown, after it had wandered away from a nearby sanctuary. Members of Troop F, moved into position and escorted her back to her home.
According to the NYSP’s Facebook page, the elephant was originally from Vietnam and was burned by Napalm during the war, which ended in 1975.
“Never a dull moment in Troop F,” the post read.
Asian Elephants are revered in many Southeast Asian cultures, and can live to be around 48 years old, though female captive elephants have lived beyond 60.
