Residents in a St Petersburg neighborhood are making a lot of noise about their neighbors new homemade gun range that he’s set up in his front yard. They are even more upset to find out he’s not breaking any laws.
They raise concerns about the dangers of having gunfire so close to where their children live and play. Mediaite says a neighbor fears she will “lose the enjoyment” of her property, and residents argue that they shouldn’t be prisoners in their own homes anytime he feels like firing off a few rounds.
During an interview for WFLA News Channel 8 County Commissioner Ken Welch is quoted saying, “Even to the most pro-gun person to have a gun range in the middle of a residential neighborhood makes no sense whatsoever.”
So, though he is well within his rights, he isn’t making any friends in the neighborhood who see him as a gun-nut and a threat to their safety and well-being.
