The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has officially endorsed Donald Trump for President.

NBPC issued the statement, just days after a senior Trump policy adviser said that Border Patrol agents would have a “direct line to the White House” if Trump were President.

According to Breitbart News, this is the first time the organization has made such an endorsement in a presidential primary. The Republican frontrunner has made a public pledge to secure the border by turning to the actual rank-and-file agents in the NBPC, rather than the management “yes-men” who say “whatever they are programmed to say.”

NBPC, which has been the only voice for nearly 17,000 Border Patrol agents, is apparently very impressed with Trump’s “revolutionary” and “refreshing” approach to securing the border.

The statement, signed by Brandon Judd, NBPC President, read in part:

“We don’t need a person who has the perfect Washington-approved tone, and certainly NOT another establishment politician in the W.H….We need a person in the White House who doesn’t fear the media, who doesn’t embrace political correctness….who is pro-military and values law enforcement, and who is angry for America and NOT subservient to the interests of other nations. Donald Trump is such a man.”

Last week, Trump adviser Stephen Miller made clear that future US border security policy would be “largely determined” by US Border Patrol agents who are actually protecting the border – not bypolitically-appointed bureaucrats in the Border Patrol or its parent agency, Customs and Border Protection.”

The NBPC statement released today also said: “If we do not secure our borders, American communities will continue to suffer at the hands of gangs, cartels and violent criminals preying on the innocent. The lives and security of the American people are at stake, and the National Border Patrol Council will not sit on the sidelines.”
