The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has released surveillance video of an inmate’s death after he attempted to knocked over two deputies and escape a Criminal Justice Center.
According to the Colorado Springs Independent, Brian Clark was being held on a warrant for indecent exposure. On January 17th, he attempted to escape by pushing and shoving deputies out of the way.
Clark was being held in the medical ward as the two deputies were attempting to replace a compromised safety smock.
In the video, after the initial charge, the deputies were able to wrangle the naked man to the ground where he began suffering a major cardiac event.
Deputies immediately started performing life-saving efforts and transported him to a trauma room, after he was restrained to a chair.
Those efforts were unsuccessful and Clark passed away.
All sergeants and deputies have returned to full duty, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident is under investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
