
The University of Louisiana Lafayette student who said she was beaten and had her hijab ripped off of her head by two white men wearing Trump apparel near campus fabricated the whole story, according to police.
The 18-year-old student went to police to after allegedly being attacked by two white men, one wearing a Donald Trump hat who yelled racial slurs at her, repeatedly hit her, ripped her hijab off her head and stole her wallet.
However the entire story was made up, she now admits.
Media outlets across the country seized on the story, including the New York Times, Huffington Post, CNN and several others. It appears as no retraction has yet been made. The original reporting of the false story helped ignite violent anti-Trump riots across the country.
It’s being reported that the student will face charges of filing a false police report by The Advertiser.
