Multiple high schoolers shot during ‘senior skip day’ beach outing

A relaxing time at the beach turned violent in South Carolina when a gunman opened fire and shot six people.

According to WCBD, the shooting happened Friday around 5:20 p.m. on the Isle of Palm, a beach town just north of Charleston.

According to ABC News, five of the six injured in the shooting were teenagers. Police were already responding to the area when the shooting happened after people called them when two fights broke out.

Police confirmed that a large group of teenagers on the beach were high schoolers doing a ‘senior skip day.’

Police have detained six individuals over the incident, though they haven’t officially charged anyone.

They also picked up multiple firearms.

Police were expecting an influx of spring breakers this weekend, and are now increasing patrol.
