An informant with the notorious Salvadoran MS-13 gang has passed along information that the group has been told to ‘kill a cop,’ specifically in the Hempstead area of Long Island, according to reports.
The ‘hit’ has apparently been ordered in retaliation to the recent crackdown on the gang by the NYPD.
The information comes from a memo reportedly obtained by the NYPost.
The NYPD is actively seeking a “tall, light-skinned Hispanic man with a thin build and a tattoo of three dots next to his eye,” in relation to the threat.
The goal of killing a police officer is to make a ‘statement’ that they are taking the streets back, ‘like [they] do in El Salvador,’ the informant said of the threat.
Any member of MS-13 can undertake the attack, according to the informant.
NYPD will be operating on high alert in the area.
