Police just outside Las Vegas arrested a mother after her 9-year-old son found a large bag of what is believed to be methamphetamine in their home.
The child locked himself in a bathroom after finding the bag and FaceTimed his father who alerted the police.
When Henderson Police Department officers arrived, the child told them, “I just saw a couple of bags, pulled it out, and then that’s when I knew what it was.”
The incident occurred in July of 2022 but the responding officers’ bodycam footage was just released.
Police confirmed that there were more than 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of methamphetamine in the bag the child handed to police upon their arrival.
The mother of the child, Kendra Long, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking and child abuse but denied knowing about the drugs.
During the video footage, she told the officers, “I can’t even understand or fathom the fact this is drugs that is in my house.”
Later on, prosecutors obtained text messages that revealed that she dealt drugs from her home while her son was present.
“Sure I’m home. You want a $100 bag or half,” one of the texts read, according to 8NewsNow.
She was sentenced to probation but prosecutors say she violated its terms.
