A Metropolitan Nashville Police Officer was wounded on Tuesday after he was lured into an ambush.
MNPD Officer Brian Sherman was shot in the left arm after responding to a bogus 911 call.
The man who opened fire on Sherman took his own life a short time after.
“Sherman was hit while answering a call of a woman shot,” police said. “The man who shot Officer Sherman … fatally shot himself in the head with a rifle in the driveway of the home as officers attempted to negotiate with him. No officers fired.”
According to the Miami Herald, Sherman was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital.
The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Salman Mohamed.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening, and remains under investigation.
