Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey traveled to his hometown of Uvalde, Texas to visit a memorial and pay his respects to the 21 victims killed during the Robb Elementary school shooting.

According to Fox News, McConaughey was with Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez and didn’t stop to answer questions.

The day after the shooting, McConaughey posted a lengthy Instagram post where he called for Americans to, “renegotiate our wants from our needs.”

McConaughey was born in Uvalde and his mother was a teacher at a school just a mile away from Tuesday’s mass shooting, which was the deadliest school shooting since 2012’s Sandy Hook school shooting.

He visited the Uvalde Civic Center, where a large memorial has been erected to the victims.
