Authorities say around midnight last night, 34-year-old Joseph Parker started violently attacking two officers who were working a detail in Revere, Massachusetts. One of them, a lieutenant, suffered a concussion after Parker allegedly punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious.

The suspect who was apparently making references to the events in Ferguson, Missouri, started yelling profanities at the officers, saying “I know why you stopped me.”

This all unfolded while officers were stopping traffic and Parker allegedly sped at the officers then stopped quickly, according to MyFoxBoston.

Afterwards, Parker allegedly exited his car and started attacking the police officers without provocation. Police say a second officer working the detail was also assaulted and suffered a leg injury.

When backup arrived at the scene, officers said Parker was combative while they put him in the back of a cruiser. Once back at the station, police say Parker continued to behave violently, attacking three more officers while he was being booked.

Parker is being held on $25,000 bond. He’s been charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, attempting to injure a police officer and “malicious destruction of property over $250.”
