A high school English teacher has been accused of sexually assaulted a student at a state nature preserve and now is facing multiple criminal charges.

Jessica Sawicki, 37, of Point Pleasant, N.J., is charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault and five counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to a news release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Sawicki was arrested earlier this week.

Prosecutors say the assaults occurred earlier this year. Sawicki, a teacher at Hamilton High School in Mercer County, reportedly engaged in sexual acts several times with the victim at the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area in Upper Freehold Township.

Sawicki is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution as she awaits her first appearance in court. She reportedly has been placed on administrative leave by the Hamilton Township School District.
