A domestic violence call turned into a shooting at an Arizona gas station that left one officer in the hospital and the shooter on the run.
According to AZ Family, a Phoenix Police officer was responding to a domestic violence call early Thursday morning when the female victim ran into a gas station and was being chased by a man, now identified as Nicholas Cowan.
Two officers arrived and one tried to approach Cowan sitting in his vehicle. Cowan then pulled out his weapon and began firing at the approaching officer, striking her. He then began firing at the backup officer who began firing his own weapon. Cowan then drove off and the backup officer began treating their partner.
The wounded officer was rushed to the hospital for surgery. She is now listed in stable condition and expected to survive.
A ‘Blue Alert’ has been issued and anyone with knowledge of Cowan’s whereabouts is being offered a $5,000 reward.
