Friday night a man armed with both a gun and a knife walked into the Arvada Police Department making suicidal threats, according to CNN. He then barricaded himself in the lobby of the police department.
During the incident the man was alone, as there were no prisoners in the holding cells and the building was evacuated.
The department’s spokesperson said there was no threat to the surround area.
Arvada Police called in a negotiator who spoke with the man, and had swat on scene standing by just in case.
According to police the situation ended peacefully. They used “less than lethal” force on the man, says 9News.
He surrendered and was taken into custody authorities said.
He was taken to a nearby hospital.
Police are still trying to determine what charges should be filed against him.
