Court records reveal that the deranged man, who attacked cops near Penn Station with a meat cleaver last month, blamed police for the vicious attack.
Akram Joudeh reportedly claimed he was minding his own business and the “cop started the whole thing.” He insisted he didn’t do anything wrong and threatened to sue the city for what it did to him, the NY Post reported.
On Sept. 20, he also allegedly told police “I am not that guy,” referring to the accused Chelsea bomber. The 32-year-old Jordanian national appeared in court, in a wheelchair, during his arraignment on Tuesday. He had a cast on his left leg from injuries sustained after he was struck with 18 bullets during the Sept 15 attack. He’s been in custody at Bellevue Hospital ever since.
According to an article in the NY Post last month, Joudeh became “enraged when he discovered an immobilization boot on the wheel of his Nissan Altima Sept. 15 near West 30th Street and Broadway.”
Joudeh reportedly spent an hour trying to “bash the boot off with a hammer.” When cops arrived and tried to arrest him, he “whipped out a meat cleaver,” the article stated. One of the detectives involved suffered a serious gash from the 11-inch blade.
Yesterday in Manhattan Supreme Court, the judge stated that Joudeh, “obviously needs medical attention” and ordered him remanded.
