A man was shot by member of the Philadelphia Police force on Wednesday morning after allegedly attacking officers with a screwdriver inside a police station.
The incident took place inside the 39th Police District building at around 9:20 in the morning, officials report.
The 23-year-old suspect came into the lobby wearing a mask, which rendered him unintelligible to the desk officer who was behind a glass partition.
When the aforementioned desk officer walked into the lobby to speak with the suspect, the man lunged towards the officer with the screwdriver and tried to enter the operations room.
A struggle ensued between the man and several officers before a female officer struck the man in the torso with a single shot from her service weapon.
According to FOX29, the man is in critical, but stable condition.
The incident is under investigation.
